Also, my sister, Pat just had a tangerine size tumor taken from her brain and it was malignant. She is afraid and rightly so, but now she is going to have to do chemo and radiation in three weeks time. I do thank God that the tumor is now gone and they got all of it and she can work on recovery. To me.….one of the most captivating episodes in the beautiful book of Acts is when Stephen (who was given charge of waiting on tables / ministering to the needs of God’s people) was given the opportunity to share his faith in the risen Savior with the Jewish unbelievers present. He was basically a church deacon-helps minister…..but he presented a splendid sermon on God’s plan of redemption…..per faith in Christ Jesus. As the Word states: “no greater act than one laying down his life for a friend”. In this case….Stephen was martyred for his Faith in the resurrection – but (perhaps) the greatest impact he made was on a Pharisee by the name of Saul (who conspired to have him stoned to death that day). The Word of the gospel that Saul heard that day was the initial step toward his conversion to faith in Jesus as the Risen Savior. In this present age……we have many prominent ministries & movements / each with their particular slant on the ultimate road to redemption. Some within the pale of orthodoxy-proclaiming a Christ centered message; others outside this pale of orthodoxy…proclaiming a message of aberrant theology. Paul admonished us to be Bereans & search the scriptures for ourselves……to study to show ourselves approved, a worthy servant. I personally pray that I remain Christ centered; studying His word, in every aspect to see Jesus revealed & exalted. I thank influential teachers such as "Wayne Monbleau"…..for helping to point me in this direction. Also: I once heard Calvary chapel pastor Joe Foech say: “as you study the Word of God……you can begin to develop your own Systematic theology”……based on what the Holy Spirit has revealed to you, regarding Jesus and His Kingdom. This is a principle I strive, by God’s Grace, to correctly implement in my life. I listen to many teachers and messages. Discernment developed per time spent in the Word & prayer can give us the ability to recognize Christ centered ministry from the wolfs. Also: the Holy Spirit can cultivate an ability to extract good scriptural aspects of different ministries……and blend them together. If we love Jesus……and have submitted our lives to Him; we have a degree of the truth. Though, of course…we all still “see through a glass darkly” and miss it in part. Thus: I consider myself ~partly Charismatic, Reformed, Calvary Chapel, Purpose Driven, Willow Creek, Seeker sensitive, New Apostolic reformation, Evangelical, Fundamentalist (I.E. TBN, RC Sproall-Mark Driscoll, Chuck Smith, Rick Warren, Bill Hybells, Church Planters of America, C.Peter Wagner, James MacDonald, Liberty Baptist U.……..& on & on & on. Essentially: like a skilled Jazz musician (or Chef)……we can blend all the healthy aspects of these movements-teachers……and go forth in the nurture & admonishment of Jesus Christ…….sharing the Good News of Love & Redemption through our beloved Savior…..Christ Jesus the Lord.
